I had purchased a 11 oz can of Krestol Gel over 20 years ago and it lasted until now. So happy I was able to still order it.
KRESTOL EUCALYPTUS GEL
The two main ingredients in Krestol Eucalyptus Gel are traditionally known to disinfect and heal wounds. This special blend has been around for generations and is unlike any other product available. In fact, Krestol Salve was first introduced in 1908, the year the McNess brand was started.
The Krestol Eucalyptus Gel is the exact same formula used for generations, but now we've changed the tin size. Now available in a 4.2 oz tin.
We know that some people have had the 11 oz tin in their medicine cabinet for years and years (and years.) Let's face it, you probably should replace it a lot sooner than you do. The smaller size makes it easier (and cheaper) to replace more often. And, did you ever notice that the 11 oz tins can was hard to open? The smaller size has a curled lip that makes it much easier to take off and put back on.
Also, please note that we have two other sizes available. If you are a heavy user of the Krestol, we now have a 18.5 oz plastic tub available. In addition, we also have a small, 1.8 oz TSA compatible travel size available in a glass jar. (Perfect to give to friends and family that may not know about the qualities of Krestol.)
Petrolatum, Rosin, Cresylic Acid, Eucalyptus Oil

I grew up using the Orginal product back when I was a kid in the 70's and it works wonder so I was so happy to be able to get it again because I was running out of the Original product. Only difference is the color mine is a darker brown color than the New one. But I will always trust this product because it works... RESPONSE FROM THE MCNESS STORE: Thank you Wendy for being a long time user of McNess products! I wanted to let you know that the reason your old can of Krestol is darker than the new can is that the ingredients oxidize with age. I can assure you that the only things we've changed are the name and the packaging.
Is this the only size you make now? SUGAR RIVER TRADING/MCNESS STORE RESPONSE: Hi John, the Krestol is now available in 3 new sizes. There are a number of reasons why we changed the sizes of the Krestol Eucalyptus Gel from the 11 oz tin to a 4.2 oz tin, a 1.8 oz jar and an 18.5 oz tub. First of all, we consistently have customers tell us that they’ve had a can that they’ve been using for years, and for some, for decades. A product like this should really be replaced more frequently for sanitary reasons. So the 4.2 oz tin is a better size for these infrequent users. Plus the new tin has a nice rolled lip for easier opening. But, some people use the Krestol quite a bit. For these people, we've added a large tub. It’s more economical and very easy to open. And last, but not least, for those that travel, the 1.8 jar is a handy size that is TSA compliant for airplane trips. It also makes a convenient “trial” size. So with these three different sizes we feel we are reaching a variety of needs.
Quite disappointed. I need the old time salve (for man or beast.). Why do you sell empty tins and no salve?? SUGAR RIVER TRADING/MCNESS STORE RESPONSE: Lisa: The Krestol Eucalyptus Gel we sell is the exact same formula as the Krestol Salve that has been around for decades. The only difference is the name has been changed and now the sizes are different. Give it a try, you'll be convinced. If not, contact us for a refund. Regarding the empty tins, we simply had some old tins available for those who want a memento of the past.
pleasant smelling, easy to use, helps healing
we love it--probably will buy tub nxt time
I'm 67 years old and this was my mom's go to remedy for all that needed healing. The can used to say "for man or beast" and her brother in law used it to heal sores and scratches on his horses thus she called it "horse salve" I truly wish the can was the same but the smell (lol) is and it still works the same. So happy it's still available, I love it!
We've used this product for years, vets are always asking what we used because the wound healed so nicely.
Would buy this again!
