We found McNess vanilla while shopping at an Amish store in central Illinois. We had been using Watkins double strength Madagascar vanilla for years, but the price went up. We decided to try the McNess because it used Madagascar vanilla beans. We weren't sure we wanted to try it because of the vanillin used in it. But we gave it a try. We really like the flavor. We've been through our second 12 oz. bottle and we were happy we could get it on-line. So we ordered another and also one for our daughter.

We’re glad you brought up the subject of vanillin! There is a huge misconception of what vanillin and ethyl vanillin actually is, I’m guessing that you probably didn’t realize that they are both produced naturally in the vanilla plant and they are primarily what gives vanilla extract its flavor. However, just like we can mix hydrogen and oxygen together in a lab to make water, we can recreate the exact same molecules of vanillin and ethyl vanillin to enhance the flavor of our compound. (That’s why it’s double strength!)
When you compare our compound to the Watkins “original gourmet baking vanilla”, you’ll notice that our most prominent ingredient (besides water and alcohol) is real vanilla bean extract. If you look at Watkins, their number one ingredient (besides water) is sugar*. We would never add sugar or corn syrup to our vanilla! The alcohol is of course required to produce an extract, that is what pulls the components of the vanilla bean into liquid form (“extracting” those components.)

I have been a loyal customer of McNess Champion Vanilla for over 40 years. I was first introduced to it back in the 70's when they still did in-home parties. Love this stuff and I make sure I never run out. I always have a spare in the pantry.

Growing up in rural Illinois, we were used to the McNess man coming to our home a few times a year. My mom always bought the Champion Vanilla, Cinnamon, and various other products, including the salve. Years later, I searched for and found McNess-Furst online and purchased the vanilla and the cinnamon. It's just the best product available, as far as I'm concerned. Thank you so much for offering these products after all these years!

I've been using this vanilla since my grandmother sold McNess 40 years ago. I've tried others and they simply don't compare. McNess is wonderful!

My family loves this vanilla--my mom always used this for her baking and kept us stocked up for the past 40 years. Since she has passed my children have been asking me about grandma's vanilla--hence the order for the gallon so that I can continue to keep my children stocked up for the next 40 years. Thanks.

Have been using McNess vanilla for about 60 years in my 68 years of marriage and will not use any other vanilla. Has excellent flavor and enhances all food that it is used in. Cannot do without in my baking and cooking.
